Appraiser, Department of American & European Paintings & Prints The candidate should be dynamic, well organized, and possess a high level of connoisseurship specializing in the appraisal and marketing of Western art from various cultures and periods. A masters degree in art history preferred. Though self-motivated, s/he will need to work well in a team, and with flexibility in a fast-paced environment. Duties for this position include appraising, researching, and cataloguing works of art for auction, encouraging new business opportunities, and liaising with both consignors and buyers regarding all aspects of the auction process. The candidate will also execute telephone and internet bids for auctions (which will include some evening and/or weekend hours). People and computer skills a must, reading knowledge of French, German and/or Italian helpful.
