Internship Description:

Magenta Plains in the Lower East Side is seeking a Gallery Intern for a period of approximately three months, from February through May 2018. The Intern will gain valuable hands-on experience in multiple areas of gallery operations and administration, including the following:

-Art fair preparation
-Art packing and handling
-Gallery preparation
-Artist research
-Exhibition design

The ideal candidate is currently enrolled in an arts-focused undergraduate program or is a recent graduate looking for professional experience. Applicants should be willing to work two five-hour days, for a total of approximately 10 hours per week.

This is an unpaid internship for a fixed duration. Interns will receive a daily stipend for food and travel expenses, and interns will be provided with signed recommendation letters at the successful conclusion of the assignment. Priority will be given to current students that can receive academic credit from the internship.


-BA / BFA, or in-progress undergraduate degree
-Knowledge of contemporary and modern art
-Previous job experience or demonstrated academic success
-MS Office and Photoshop skills
-Desire to learn about gallery operations
